Sun City is a suburban community located outside Phoenix, Arizona. It is the country’s first retirement community designed for active adults and still among the largest with a population of over 40,000. In order to be a permanent resident of Sun City, one household member must be above the age of 55. No one under 19 is allowed to live in Sun City.
Sun City receives 312 days of sun each year. It is one of the cleanest cities in the country and boasts one of the lowest crime rates. There are 11 golf courses within city limits making golf carts a popular means for residents to get around town and also legal to drive on all city roads. There is a wide range of other activities for residents available at one of the 7 recreational centers within Sun City as well. In many ways, Sun City is like summer camp – for retirees.
