The Los Angeles County Arts Commission commissioned me to create drawings for a psychiatric ward for teenagers at Harbor-UCLA Medical Center. The drawings are of areas near the hospital that the patients and staff might be familiar with. Since there are no windows on the ward, I wanted to create sunny vistas that provide a needed, beautiful mental escape.

The exterior hallway wall was painted in simple, bright colors that matched some of the colors in the drawings in order to create a separation from the hospital and therefore a less clinical feel to the center upon approach.
